When Page and Rafael reached out to plan their engagement session, I was immediately excited. They’re planning a Las Vegas wedding (so much fun!! ), but wanted to capture this special chapter of their story somewhere that feels like home here in Wisconsin. Their pick? A nostalgic, mid-century cocktail lounge in Milwaukee called At Random — a favorite date spot of theirs and an absolute dream to photograph.
This place has all the charm: kitschy vintage decor, moody lighting, and that unmistakable cozy-glow energy that just feels like a good story is about to unfold. The detail shot includes her engagement ring tucked into a stunning vintage velvet box, their wedding invitation, and a custom matchbook from At Random. Page collects old matchbooks, and she even surprised me at the end of the session with a few vintage matchbooks to add to my little collection I just started too — the sweetest!
There’s something about being invited into a couple’s world like this—into the places and objects that hold real meaning for them—that makes a session feel less like a photoshoot and more like a shared memory. I captured this one on digital, 35mm film, and Polaroid, my favorite combo.
Their session felt like flipping through the pages of an old photo album. I’m so honored to have documented this chapter before they head off to Vegas to say “I do.”
